As a guitarist, I understand the appeal of the brand new guitar. Sometimes you get your mind made up that you want a guitar made from an exotic and rare wood, but you need to think about the repercussions of these sorts of purchases before buying. You can find a guitar made with Brazilian Rosewood, for example, without having to buy one new. Too many musicians these days are all talk about the environment because they can't even stop to think about the trees being chopped down for the sake of their new guitars. Here are 6 reasons to buy your next guitar used.
1. The obvious-you save trees.
2. You cut down on pollution by reducing factory and transport CO2 emissions.
3. You save money. Most used guitars are cheaper than brand new ones.
4. You get a guitar with some history! Instruments often get better with time.
5. You can renovate it and make it yours. Paint it, rebuild, etc.
6. You reduce waste. If no one bought used guitars, where would they go?
