As a musician, I know for a fact that musicians put a lot of things to waste that could be reused or recycled. Think about all of the wasted guitar strings out there! I have a friend who makes jewelry and sculptures out of used guitar strings, so clearly, they can be put to use instead of being thrown away. And what about drumsticks? Most drummers I know break at least one stick per show and they end up tossing the stick out (if it doesn't go to someone in the audience). That's way too many trees being cut down for the sake of music, if you ask me. So I went on a mission to find out about whether or not there are eco-drumsticks on the market and, luckily, there are.
Wheatware makes some drumsticks that are bio-compostable. On top of that, they're not that much more expensive than regular drumsticks at only $14.99 a pair. Now drummers can use some drumsticks that are sensible and won?t end up contributing to global warming and deforestation.
In fact, all of Wheatware's products are pretty amazing. They focus on providing replacements for wooden items across the board-not just drumsticks. However, don't feel left out if you're a guitarist-they make guitar picks also from the same material as the drumsticks! Now that is music to my ears.
